- Description: Check Fall 2027 programme participation, funding scope, check-ins and separate admission/deposit terms before relying on the April 15 agreement.

An admission deadline, a funding-response deadline and a tuition-deposit deadline can appear in the same correspondence. They should not automatically become one decision. For a US master's applicant comparing funded offers, the April 15 Resolution may provide time to consider qualifying support, but its coverage must be established for the institution, programme, award and intake.

Before assuming that an early date can be ignored, identify what the sender is asking you to accept or pay. Keep the written terms, current policy and any clarification together. A deadline decision should follow verified conditions and an informed choice, not a claim that every graduate offer uses the same rule.

## What the current resolution covers

The Council of Graduate Schools' [current resolution](https://cgsnet.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/April-15-Text-of-Resolution.pdf?ref=peridot.works), approved on 10 April 2026, concerns specified financial support: full tuition support, fellowships, traineeships and assistantships. It does not apply to an admission offer simply because that offer is for graduate study.

The [CGS resolution page](https://cgsnet.org/resources/for-current-prospective-graduate-students/april-15-resolution?ref=peridot.works) says institutions must re-sign for programmes beginning in Fall 2027\. An older signatory list or a statement from a previous intake is therefore insufficient to close that question. Find the current institutional commitment and ask whether the exact programme falls within it.

[Texas Christian University's hosted copy](https://coe.tcu.edu/resources/graduate/files/2%5FCGS%5FResolution%5F2026.pdf?ref=peridot.works) reproduces the April 2026 text. The presence of that document is useful source context, but is not used here as proof that every TCU programme, or any particular Fall 2027 offer, is covered. No specific applicant's programme participation has been verified for this article.

## Classify the offer before comparing dates

Create separate rows for admission, each funding component and any deposit. For each row, record the responsible office, what acceptance means, the reply or payment deadline and the relevant written policy. A partial discount should not automatically be treated as one of the resolution's specified award types; ask how the actual support is classified.

The [current CGS FAQ](https://cgsnet.org/resources/for-current-prospective-graduate-students/april-15-resolution/april-15-resolution-faq?ref=peridot.works) permits earlier admission deadlines without stated or implied qualifying support. Some business and professional-school programmes may fall outside the agreement. Record the programme's confirmation rather than relying on the university name.

Consider a fictional offer containing an admission reply date, a possible assistantship and a deposit request. Do not conclude either that the deposit must be paid immediately or that everything can wait until April 15\. Ask the programme to explain which decisions are linked, what support is actually offered and which terms govern each commitment.

## A check-in is not always final acceptance

Approved intermediate check-ins can require a response even where more time is available through April 15\. Ignoring them can risk support withdrawal. Record these separately from final acceptance and respond to the actual request.

For an apparently conflicting deadline, put the question to the programme's admissions office or graduate dean using the exact offer and policy. Keep the response. The resolution is an agreement among participating institutions; this article does not declare an individual letter invalid or settle a dispute.

The FAQ places the end-of-day deadline in the offering school's time zone. Record the confirmed school, date and zone before converting it for an Indian calendar; keep the conversion with its evidence.

## Keep funding and employment assumptions separate

An assistantship-labelled offer may require additional questions about duties, workload, supervision, payment timing and applicable work conditions. A funding category is not a general promise of employment after graduation. Likewise, tuition support does not tell a family that accommodation, insurance, travel or every other expense is covered.

Use the [funding-and-admission deadline guide](https://www.peridot.works/funding-deadlines-admissions/) to record application deadlines separately from response deadlines. Use the [deposit/refund checklist](https://www.peridot.works/study-abroad-deposit-refund-checklist/) for an actual payment's conditions, rather than assuming that this agreement supplies a refund policy.

If plans change, the FAQ describes notifying the programme before accepting elsewhere, with written withdrawal after April 15 and no formal-release requirement. Separate deposit, contract and immigration questions still need their own verified answers.

## One useful next step

Prepare a decision record containing the exact fall intake, current participation evidence, programme coverage, award classification, check-ins, final deadline with time zone and unresolved payment terms. Compare the net confirmed support with the [full-course budget](https://www.peridot.works/masters-budget-beyond-tuition/). A clear remaining funding gap is more useful than assuming an unawarded scholarship or future salary will close it.

Sources checked on 13 October 2026\. CGS's FAQ states approval on 10 April and an update on 29 July 2026\. Coverage for an actual Fall 2027 programme remains a question to verify; this guide promises neither an award nor a deadline extension for an uncovered offer.
